Altair, IP Wireless work on multiband LTE modem

Altair and IP Wireless said they will develop a number of multiband LTE modem products.

The companies will integrate Altair's radio baseband processor into IP Wireless LTE devices to create USB devices operating over the 800MHz, 1800MHz and 2.5GHz bands - the first devices will be out by the end of this year and will sample in September, the companies said.

The companies will subsequently create devices to support the US700MHz and AWS frequency.

The IP Wireless LTE device will use Altair's FourGee-3100 baseband and FourGee-6200 RFIC chipsets and its own software.IP Wireless said that the LTE devices will include a customised multiband antenna that will give better cell edge and peak rate performance.

IP Wireless has already created PCI Express minicards embedded in laptops, public safety devices and residential broadband routers for traffic light management, data acquisition and machine-to-machine applications.
