Modular radio modem system

New from Satel is the Satellar digital system, which is a smart radio modem featuring TCP/IP functionality, combined with a Linux platform for customer-specific applications.

The system’s modular structure is composed of a radio unit, a central unit and expansion units. Typically, a central unit together with a radio unit are used in a network as a master station or in locations where an Ethernet connection is needed. For radio router stations, the central unit is not necessarily required. In these cases, the radio unit can be used alone.

The Satellar system has enhanced RF sensitivity and a tuning range of 20 MHz, and offers over-the-air software updating. Transmission can reach several kilometres, which can be extended yet further through appropriate antenna selection. Directional antennas, best suited for point-to-point communications, omnidirectional antennas, ideal for point-to-multipoint applications, and specialised offset pattern antennas are available.

Lapp Cable, the local Satel supplier, also provides design support to customers with limited experience in radio systems or with challenging applications.
