Fujitsu's LifeBook U810, which I reviewed in its first incarnation in November, is getting the very upgrade that I'd dreamed of when it first hit my desk, namely, built-in wireless WAN, courtesy of the AT&T BroadbandConnect network.
According to Fujitsu, the U810 and Fujitsu's T2010 tablet will be the first notebooks on the market to use AT&T's HSUPA network, an upgrade to the current HSDPA network. That means not just 3G-class download speeds but super-fast upload speeds as well. Fujitsu claims 500Kbps to 800Kbps upstream with the new modems.
Otherwise, the U810 specs remain the same as before, and the model number is not changing. Pricing for the modem addition has not yet been announced. I'll have some hands-on time with the U810 tomorrow and will add some pictures of it to the Flickr stream then. Stay tuned!
