Sometime this will happen, even if you have removed the dialup settings from your control panel.
There is a setting in your computers registry that can be set so this does not happen.

- Step 1
You will need to open your registry. Before you do anything in your registry, please read the warnings below.

Start >> RunOpen the run command dialog box by pressing the "Start Button" and selecting the "run" section of the Menu
- Step 3Open the registry by typing in regedit
This will open the Run Command Dialog box, Type regedit and press OK
- Step 4Registry Window
Everything that happens on your PC is controlled somewhere in the registry. Sometimes you may see entries in the registry that do not make any sense, or they are from an OLD program that is long gone.
Do not just delete keys from a registry without knowing exactly what you are doing. - Step 5Expand the section windows by selecting the plus sign icons
Browse to the - KEY HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Ole - by selecting the small boxes with the + "plus" signs to expand the section.
- Step 6Create a New Registry Key
Add a new "String Value" key by right clicking the right side of the window and selecting "NEW", then select "String Value" from the POP up menu
- Step 7Rename the Key
Rename the New Key By "Right Clicking" the New Key you just made and select "rename" from the pop up menu. Type in "EnableRemoteConnect" for the name of the new key.
- Step 8Add a value to this key
Set the value of the new key by "right clicking" then key name and selecting the "modify" selection from the popup menu. Add the value "N" to the key.
- Step 9Close the Registry Editor
press "OK" and close the registry editor. The modem should not automatically startup when the computer starts.
- If you are running Windows XP or above, you should enable restore points before starting this.
- There are some registry editing programs available that will make this and other changes to your registry and give you a chance to revert the changes made, in case of probelems.
- Modifying the registry can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Problems resulting from modifications to the registry cannot always be resolved. Use the information provided at your own risk.
