Choosing 3G Modem

Yesterday, high school friend about the internet connection cord that slowly luambat alias. Discussion then turned to the internet connection using a wireless service provider. Discussion on how the end is to select the modem, the criteria are mempengaruhinya.

Then I gave a short rack of criteria - criteria that mempengaruhinya. I need to emphasize here, that I am not the expert in the world per-an-3G modem, which I submit is based on personal experiences, so that the build input is of course I expected.

Here are some criteria (not sorted):

1. Stability Level

Stability associated with the level of resistance in everyday use, in the extreme conditions is the use of non-stop. Modem that operates with both good although has been used continuously for some time. If the modem sebentar2 'dropout-nyambung' the level of stability modem doubt. Of course, dropping out nyambung this malfunction that occurs outside of the operator.
2. Power Signal catching

Such as mobile phones, the stronger the signal power catching the better. The greater the signal by the potential speed of data that can be channeled more likely.
3. Frequency Range & Speed

The faster the modem the better. Size is how big the capacity of data that can be distributed. Capacity depending on the type of transport that is supported, such as GPRS [standard (DL = 48kbps/UP = 48kbps), EDGE (DL = 384kbps/UP = 384kbps)], UMTS [HSDPA (DL = 3.2mbps/UP = 384kbps), HSUPA ( DL = 7.2mbps/UP = 2.1mbps)]. Modem circulating in the market generally has minimal support HSDPA, and HSUPA. Of course the speed dependent on the use of packet data is selected by the user (eg 256kbps), and availability of services by transport operators in the area (coverage area, there are areas that have not been such as HSDPA support, so that transport is active GPRS)
4. Type of Connectivity

Generally there are two types of modem, the USB and PCMCIA. PCMCIA modem can only be used on (most) laptops. While USB dapt be used both on the PC, laptop, desknote, etc. netbook. That is one reason why cable modem prices relatively more expensive than PCMCIA modem.
5. Price

Of course with the same specification that we want a cheaper price is not it?
6. Size

Some people think size does not matter. Modem is a small, lightweight, modis, some are huge and 'heavy'.
7. Warranty, Repair & After Sales

If the modem problem, of course we want improvements to the service is fast and precise. If there are any warranty that offers one-to-one replacement of course very good. Besides, if we want to sell it back because it is not required, the selling price remains high.

Irrespective of the factors - factors above, once again, the performance also depends on the modem with your service provider, among others, the bandwidth of the selected package, the signal GPRS (Standard / EDGE) / UMTS (HSDPA / HSUPA), signal strength, capacity of the BTS, the users are connected to the BTS and the like.
