Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (NASDAQ: CMTL) said that its Tempe, Arizona-based subsidiary, Comtech EF Data Corp., was awarded a $1.6 million order for satellite modems and redundancy switches.
A large operator in the Asia-Pacific region will use the equipment to upgrade their existing satellite-based cellular backhaul infrastructure to increase their available bandwidth.
The order includes the CDM-625 Advanced Satellite Modem and redundancy switches. Operators worldwide utilize the CDM-625s advanced features to support cellular backhaul and other latency-sensitive applications. Examples of the CDM-625s advanced technologies are VersaFEC(R) forward error correction, Adaptive Coding and Modulation and DoubleTalk(R) Carrier-in-Carrier(R) bandwidth compression. The combination of technologies enables users to minimize operating expenses, maximize throughput and availability without additional transponder resources, and minimize capital expenses by allowing a smaller BUC/HPA and/or antenna.
