Quake Global launches data modem for fixed, mobile apps

Modem manufacturer Quake Global has launched the Q4000 satellite data modem designed for fixed and mobile applications.

The Q4000 provides global M2M communications with land, marine or aviation based assets and equipment such as heavy machinery, trucks, ships and containers. The Q4000 is also suited for predictive maintenance, hours of service and DOT compliance. Isolated power substations and remote metering facilities can also be monitored and managed. The modem can communicate across any satellite or terrestrial network and is customisable. Features include multiple network configurations and optional GPS to serve a variety of markets and price points and options include CAN bus, memory, antenna detection, multiple analogue and digital inputs/outputs and relays.

The Q4000 enables OEMs and system integrators to create customised onboard applications. The Application Programming Interface supports Quake Messaging Manager, enabling programmers to develop their custom applications, which in turn function regardless of the desired network or protocol, without the need for additional programming.

High Speed Satellite Modem : Advanced error correction, diverse modulation schemes, and broad open/closed network operations

The Evolution Series of Satellite Modems from Paradise Datacom have a new configurable hardware platform that allows the modem design to evolve to meet future demands with the latest features.

The Evolution Series Open Network / Closed Network Modem features operation to 25Mbps, with an option to 52Mbps. Modulation schemes include 8PSK and 16QAM for excellent bandwidth efficiency, and 2nd Generation Turbo Code (TPC) error correction for superb performance in all modes of operation. Most features are enabled through software keys, which makes upgrades a simple procedure.

The local and remote interfaces have been designed to be intuitive and simple. One innovative feature in this new series of Modems is the ability to display information in different languages. This makes the Evolution Series Modem very attractive to users for whom English is not their first language. A built-in web server provides access via a standard web browser, thus eliminating the need for expensive Monitor and Control software and device drivers. SNMP network management is also supported.

The built-in test features, accessed via a web browser, include a receive constellation monitor and a receive spectrum analyser display, both of which are invaluable when analysing link performance, and are cost saving features which reduce the need for expensive test equipment on site. These test features can be accessed over any suitable network, including via Internet, so low cost remote link monitoring and debugging is now a reality.

All aspects of the design and functionality have been carefully thought out so as to offer maximum features and flexibility at minimal cost.

Paradise Datacom designs and manufactures sophisticated and flexible satellite communication equipment including satellite modems, SSPAs, LNAs, BUCs, transceivers and associated redundancy equipment.

Satellite modem "Rainbow Web" with support GPRS/EDGE/3G and satellite TV

In October, a federal satellite operator "Rainbow Web" takes on Russia's new product - satellite modem "Rainbow Web", combining the functions of receiving the signal from the satellite (in standard DVB-S and DVB-S2) and sending outbound requests via mobile phone (standard GPRS/EDGE/3G). In addition, the modem is able to receive satellite television, including channels of high definition (HDTV).

When buying a new modem subscribers of "Rainbow Web" will receive free access to the Internet within one year. The project is based on satellite Yamal 201, so this proposal will benefit customers throughout Russia.

The software modem is compatible with the development of "Rainbow Web" - an accelerator Sprint, which allows increasing the speed of the user in the Internet by reducing the volume of outgoing traffic. The modem is adapted to work in existing networks, satellite communications, and the included software «Raduga Connect» simplifies the process of connecting and configuring hardware.
