Introduction
DSL stands for Digital Subscriber Line. A DSL modem uses a copper wire for transmission to access high speed broadband Internet over ordinary telephone lines. Main advantage of DSL is that you can talk and surf at the same time. But the main issue that arises is How to install a DSL modem to connect to the high speed broadband internet? The simple way is to just read the steps given below and you will be connected.

Setting up the DSL Modem
Step 1
Just double click the Web browser and type the web address of the modem's administrative site. You can find the URL from the manufacturer manual or the documentation provided by the vender.
Step 2
Enter the Username and Password to login to the admin section. It is provided in the user manual. If you don’t know the user name and password then first you try with the user name and password as admin. If not successful check your vendor for the information.
Step 3
The next step is to choose the internet connection type you are currently using.Normally internet connections are categorized in four different types. They are
-
Dynamic IP Address
-
Static IP Address
-
PPPoE/PPPoA
-
Bridge mode
Choose the setting as prescribed by your internet service provider. Select the best compatible settings to get desired results.
Step 4
Choose the option to get the ip address dynamically from the ISP‘s server. With every broadband connection you will be provided with the unique ip address. IP address may be static or dynamic depending upon the IPS configurations. In case you choose to allocate the dynamic IP address scheme then each time you connect to the ISP, the ISP’s server will automatically assigns you an IP address. Now enter the MAC Address of your modem. You will find it at the back of your modem.
Step 5
If your ISP is configured to assigned static IP address then you prefer to choosethe option of STATIC ip address assigning. Type in all the required fields as prescribed by the IPS such as VCI, VPI, IP Address, Subnet Mask, ISP Gateway Address, Server Address, Primary DNS Address, Secondary DSN Address and connection typeStep 6
If you are using a broadband DSL connection then you prefer to choose PPPoE/PPPoA. Provide here the details about the username and password as provided by the ISP.
Step 7
If your ISP uses a connection type like bridge mode then configure it accordingly. These configurations are provided in the connection setup manual by the ISP.
Step 8
Finally click Finish icon to complete the process of installing the DSL modem. Your DSL modem is not installed and configured.
Step 9
Go to the address bar and enter any URL address to check if your DSL Internet connection is working properly.
